Tweaks and enhancements

2. We've launched a new mobile site with an enhanced UI at m.livejournal.com. View spotlights, post to your journal, read and post to friends pages, and more, no matter where you roam! Please let us know what you think, since this will eventually replace our existing mobile interface. You can update your mobile preferences on your account page.
3. We've upgraded from Beacon to Facebook Connect to improve dual posting. If you've already signed up for Facebook Beacon, you're good to go. If you wish to update your Facebook Connect setting, visit Account Privacy settings and scroll down to the option labeled: "Send information about my updates to Facebook." You can choose Always or Ask each time. Remember to save (on the bottom left corner of the page). To learn more, check out FAQ 249. While we're on the subject, if you happen to be visiting that side of town, please join our Facebook fan page for a touch of home away from home.
4. You'll now receive the Writer's Block Question of the Day in the body of email notifications. To sign up for Writer's Block notifications, visit writersblock and choose the Watch Community option. Next, update your Writer's Block notification settings by checking the box to the right of "Someone posts a new entry to writersblock."
5. Paid and permanent users can now view, add, and edit Notes of commenters. Notes will appear beside the username of comment posters (instead of stars) on S1-themed comment pages.

Осень...ноябрь...за окном стучит не переставая дождь...холодный...то моросящий, то льющий как из ведра...
в такую погоду хорошо мечтать, закутавшись в теплый плед, попивая горячий грог или глинтвейн и почитывая какую-нибудь легкую беллетристику...
а еще в такую погоду можно и нужно встречаться с хорошими людьми :)
что намедни мы с моей чудесной френдесой Олей oligo (стомильёнов спасибо!) и сделали
мы гуляли по центру, ловили моросящие капли и с большим удовольствием общались,
а потом, для согрева, пили вкусный и ароматный глинтвейн...и я была оподарена чудесным рисунком вьюнка!

картинки с прогулки получились разные и обработаны они по разному...но, как мне кажется, представляют собой некую историю...
историю об Осени...

Has anyone ever heard that it is absolutely, no discussions allowed HARAAM for a father to change his daughter's diaper? Is this some twisted social conditioning which excuses men from ever having to touch a diaper or is there Qur'anic and or Hadith evidence for such a ban? I mentioned that a mother sees her son's privates and the response was that that was permissible since it is the mother's duty to take care of the children. My brain hurts when I hear other Muslims echo what I suspect is pure social brainwashing. Another favorite that gives me a headache is: "it is haraam to admit that you are not fasting due to menstruation in front of male relatives"(distasteful and socially awkward, but haraam? Give me a break!). Having a general conversation with Muslims these days is like getting a root canal without anesthesia.

Frank is still blushing with excitement over the love notes, proposals, propositions, and occasional intimate photos sent from his admirers around the world (China, Norway, Japan, and Poland just this week)! At his request, we blindfolded Justin, one of Frank's BFFs, spun him around in five dozen counterclockwise circles, and asked him to point to ten random postcards/envelopes pasted to the wall. Hello,
I'm not a Muslim, but as a student of religion I value all faiths for their unique insights. So far my understanding of Islamic faith is very limited (to an Intro. to Islam class in 2008), but I understand enough to recognize hateful bias and the propagation of misconception when I see it. So when I discovered this e-mail in my inbox this morning (from my conservative grandfather, which was forwarded to a great number of people), I immediately set about digging up my old notes from that introductory class in an effort to challenge some of the statements that were made. My plan was to respond to these statements in an educated way that wouldn't be antagonistic but (hopefully) enlightening to whoever took the time to read it (I'd forward it to everyone who received the initial e-mail).

However, I'm concerned that my responses would be weak compared to those that I might elicit from real Muslims, which is why I've come to this community to ask for help. Behind the cut is the full text of the e-mail, which undoubtedly many of you would consider offensive. If you wouldn't mind taking the time to dissect some of its claims I think it could benefit a small percentage of people in a big way.
